Judicial System

The Judicial System of Polk County is comprised of several dedicated departments, each playing a unique and vital role in upholding the rule of the law and supporting a fair and just community.

Juvenile Court
focuses on the welfare and rehabilitation of the young, while Magistrate Court addresses civil disputes and minor criminal cases. Superior Court handles all serious criminal and civil matters, serving as the highest level of trial court in the county. Probate Court oversees wills, estates, guardianships, and ensures the proper management of important personal affairs. The District Attorney’s office prosecutes criminal cases to protect public safety, while the Public Defender’s office ensures that all citizens have access to legal representation, regardless of their means. Last but certainly not least, our Probation Office supervises individuals, helping them responsibly reintegrate into society. Together, each of these departments work hand-in-hand to promote justice, accountability, and rehabilitation for our community.
