We are looking for community members who are genuinely interested in learning more about how county government operates. The County’s hope is that graduates of this course will take their new knowledge and become active participants in their local government, whether it be as employees, volunteers, or partners in the education of county government operations for others in the community. We are also looking for a diverse student body that can represent all corners of Polk County.
Yes. You will be required to attend this course in person and must be present for at least 75% of the course in order to obtain your certificate of completion.
The one-time $20 dollar fee will cover class shirt, graduate certificate, all session materials (printouts, binders, etc.) as well as light refreshments, which will be served every session of class.
If you are selected and cannot afford the one-time fee of $20, please email osmith@polkga.org to inquire about the possibility of scholarship funds.
