The Department of Human Resources provides programs and services in support of developing, promoting, and administering personnel policies and procedures to ensure a high-performing workforce and organizational excellence.

Human Resources services include recruitment and employment, compensation and benefits, and wellness programs.

E-Verify
E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows an employer, using information reported on an employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to determine the eligibility of that employee to work in the United States. Eligibility employment verification is mandatory for municipalities. The E-Verify system is operated by the Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration.

Polk County participates in the E-Verify system. Polk County’s E-Verify identification number is 154185.
